Update: Assignment of 2021 to 2024 FISA events

Exciting times ahead: The assignment of the 2021 to 2024 FISA events is coming closer. Since the application deadline, the number of bidders has decreased slightly. Below we have listed the regatta locations that are currently still in the race. We as Regatta Munich have applied for the following events:

  • For the European Rowing Junior Championships 2021, Munich is up against the French Brive and the Italian Sabaudia. The fact that both locations – unlike Munich – also applied for the event in subsequent years could have a positive effect on Munich’s bid.
  • In 2022, the European Rowing Championships could take place in Munich. At its recent meeting in Lucerne on the occasion of this year’s European Championships, the European Rowing Confederation had spoken out in favour of Munich. The final decision will be announced prior to September 1, 2019.
  • The Munich application for the World Rowing Masters Regatta 2022 is also still in the books. The challenge here is to prevail against Libourne or Varese.
  • In terms of World Rowing Cups 2023 and 2024, Munich is hoping to get the second regatta of the respective regatta series.

The final decision on the allocation of the events will be announced on Sunday, September 1, for European Rowing respectively on Monday, September 2, after the final races of the World Rowing Championships in Linz for World Rowing.
